The things you talk about with friends

So I was talking to one of my buddies last week during the football game and we started talking about television. I’ve been a cable subscriber for many years but I think I’ve been paying too much. I’ve been seriously thinking about switching to a satellite provider. Well, he’s had Dish Network for a couple of years now and has loved it. We were talking about pricing and different packages and I have to say, I was pretty impressed with what he was telling me.

One thing that was very interesting to me was the package that my buddy actually had. About a year ago they got rid of their standard package and went to Dish Latino Dos. Dish Latino is actually pretty cool, after the game he gave me a quick demo / tour. It’s not solely Spanish, it’s not solely English. It’s a combination of the best channels from both English and Spanish speaking channels. It has most of our country’s most relevant channels as well as tons of programming from Spanish speaking countries.

Even though I really only had a few minutes to check it out, it’s definitely interesting to see how different the English and Spanish speaking shows are. Spanish TV seems to have more passion, more life to it. Also, Spanish speaking sports announcers and news reporters get much more into what they do than our reporters do. I think the people in that area of the world are just naturally more enthusiastic, naturally more dramatic in their acting. Either way, it was really cool to see.

Why did he decide to go with Dish Latino? His wife had actually talked him into getting Dish Latino because her side of the family is bi-lingual. Not only are they bi-lingual, but they want to keep the practice alive, which I completely understand. More and more people are learning Spanish in this country and if a person wants to stay culturally relevant, he or she really needs to think about learning Spanish. They decided together that Dish Latino would be great for brushing up on their Spanish, keeping their kids up to date with their Spanish, and keeping track of what goes on in other parts of the world. Dish Latino seems like a pretty cool package all around and while I don’t know if I would ever need it, it’s nice to know that something like Dish Latino exists.
